Fly
Fishing
The
chalkstream rivers of Southern England are the
cradle of fly fishing and rightly hold an
unrivalled place
in fly fishing lore. The gin clear waters run
through what are still some of the most unspoilt
meadows, farmland and countryside in Britain. The
brown trout holds sway as the ultimate quarry in
these rivers, where dry fly fishing remains the
supreme method of out-witting our native
fish.
The
chalkstreams spread across Southern England in a
westerly direction from the Rivers Itchen &
Test in Hampshire, through the Avon, Nadder &
Wylye in Wiltshire, to the Frome and Piddle in
Dorset and then on up to the Coln in
Gloucestershire.
Our
private fishing tours have the widest selection of
private beats to let by the Day or Season on all
these rivers. We have fished all the beats
ourselves, so you may be assured an honest and
first hand account of each.
With
over ten years in the businesses we have an
unrivalled reputation for the finest chalkstream
fishing. Whether you just fishing for a single day
or longer, you can rely on our first hand knowledge
of the rivers we cover. All our staff are dedicated
fly fishermen & are fully qualified
Guides/Instructors.
Chalkstream
fishing -
This is rented by the day, for one person or more.
Generally speaking you will have a private beat,
that is exclusively yours for the day or on
occasions shared with one or two fellow
anglers.
Fishing
Guides
- If you are not familiar with the English
chalkstreams a Guide is essential. They may be
hired by the day and may be shared if you are
fishing with companions.
Times
of year-
The trout season runs from mid-April to
late-October. Fishing is predominately dry fly,
with some sight nymph fishing. There is grayling
fishing from late October to late
December.
Tackle
& government licence
-
The Guides will provide tackle at no extra charge
and you are covered by our block government licence
whilst with our Guides.
Clothing
- We
will provide you with a list of what to bring &
wear. We will advise if your particular beat
requires waders. The Guides provide these at no
extra charge if you wish to travel
light.
The
chalkstream region is some 65-80 miles south west
of central London. We can provide transport from
London and Country accomodation if needed.
Otherwise, travel by train (London
Waterloo-Winchester) 55 minutes and your Guide will
collect from the train station.
Visits
and excursions can be designed to suit your
individual requirements.
